Repairs

We handle a wide range of repairs for accidents that can occur with your stringed instruments. Torn soundboards, broken headstocks, detached bridges or braces, impacts, and cracks in the instrument body are among the most common issues. Depending on the specific case, the instrument’s value, and its quality, we develop a tailored methodology for the repair.

Through academic training in the field, we have realized how careful and methodical we must be in every decision and movement. Often, we exchange insights with respected colleagues, former classmates, and teachers when confronted with particularly challenging cases. When a historical or vintage instrument comes into our workshop requiring more than a standard repair, careful study and planning are always undertaken to advance our craft.

Our general workflow for repairs includes:

  1. Damage assessment – evaluating the extent and nature of the problem.

  2. Preparation – shaping the instrument, molds, materials, and tools to achieve optimal adhesion.

  3. Practice operations – rehearsing techniques before the actual repair.

  4. Cleaning and sanitizing the workspace – ensuring a contamination-free environment.

  5. Gluing / bonding – performing the primary structural repair.

  6. Reinforcement – adding supports or reinforcements if necessary.

  7. Finish restoration – restoring the instrument’s visual and protective surface to its original or improved condition.

This methodical approach ensures both structural integrity and acoustic performance, preserving the instrument’s value and playability.
